My First Birchbox | Review

I’ve always been intrigued by the idea of a beauty subscription box ever since last Christmas when I got the M&S beauty advent calendar. I love trying out new products, but it can become quite an expensive hobby! So getting samples of new products delivered to your door every month is a great way to try before you buy!

There are so many beauty subscription boxes out there so I did a bit of research to see which one would be right for me. I always see people posting pictures of their Birchbox on social media, and they always look so pretty and are full of products that I would love to try. So I bit the bullet and ordered my first one! The 50% off offer may of helped aid my decision slightly too!

For September there was two different box designs you could choose from, both designed by Oliver Bonas, inspired but their AW17 collection. I chose the white one, as I just loved the pattern on it, it looked so pretty! The October box was a collaboration with CoppaFeel! in honour of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and is a really pretty pink and purple marble pattern.

On the Birchbox website you can create your own beauty profile, which means that each month you receive 5 personalised beauty items in the box.

September Box…

Polaar IcyMagic Instant Eye Contour Energiser

I have been using this everyday, morning and night since I opened it! It is so soothing to roll on under your eyes. I’ve noticed a big difference in the appearance of my eyes. They look a brighter, and my dark circles have definitely reduced. I’m not that great at the science behind it, but from my understanding, the roller helps to increase blood flow to give a more glowing appearance. Find it here!

Dr. PawPaw Original Clear Balm

I love a good multi-tasker! You can use this balm as a lip balm, moisturiser, to smooth split ends or to sooth sunburn. So far I’ve been using it as a lip balm every night before bed as its really moisturising and is great if I’ve been wearing a matte lipstick during the day. Definitely going to be one of my handbag essentials! Find it here!

Manna Kadar Fantasy 3-in-1 Blush, Highlighter, Eyeshadow

I love the fact that you got a full size product in this box! However, I’m quite pale, so I think that I can only get away with this as an eyeshadow, as it is way too dark for my skin tone to be used as a blush or highlight. It is very pigmented and will work great on my eyes but just not my face. Might be better for someone with a darker complexion. Find it here!

Benefit They’re Real! Doube the Lip (Shade Pink Thrills)

I’m a bit fan of Benefit products, so I was really excited to try out this product. It does make your lips look a lot fuller which is what it says on the box, however I’m not a huge fan of the colour, but I think I’d really love it if it was in a shade that I’m more a fan of. This is because the application was so easy, and it means you only have to take one product with you on a night out rather than a lipstick and liner. Find it here!

Sand & Sky Brilliant Skin Purifying Pink Clay Mask

I have seen this advertised on Facebook so many times, and I really wanted to buy the real thing, but it’s quite pricey, so I didn’t want to spend all that money for me to not like it. So I am so glad that I got a sample size to try out! This is honestly the best face mask I have ever used, and it only takes 10 minutes to do! Its made my skin much clearer and glowing since I’ve used it. Will definitely be buying the full size one when this runs out! Find it here!

October Box…

Obviously I haven’t been using these items for as long as the September ones, but these are my first impressions so far…

ModelCo Contour Stick

This is a very lightweight, creamy contour stick! It is so easy to use and blends so well! It is slightly dark for my natural skin tone, but will look amazing with a tan! Find it here!

Balance Me Pure Skin Face Wash

I’m loving this face wash so far! You only need to use a tiny bit on your skin and it feels like it gets rid of all of the dirt! My skin has felt a lot cleaner since I’ve started using it, and I love the fact that its made out of 99% natural ingredients. It has such a lovely smell as well, bonus! Find it here!

Anatomicals Grab Your Melons Shower Gel

I absolutely love the idea of this shower gel! In honour of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, its reminding you to take 5 minutes in the shower to coppafeel of your boobs. It even comes with a CoppaFeel! Shower Hijack sticker so you know exactly what to look and feel for! And it only costs £1.50! Find it here!

R + Co Badlands Dry Shampoo Paste

I’ve never seen a product like this one before, so I was quite excited to give it a try. For me, it doesn’t work great on my dry hair, as I don’t notice that much of a difference. This might be because I do have a bit of trouble trying to get a decent amount of product out of the pot, as it is quite a small sample size. I haven’t used it on wet hair yet to see if it gives any volume, but hopefully that may work better. Find it here!

Whish Coconut Milk Body CC Cream

I love using this product! It gives my skin such a lovely bronzed glow! Absolutely perfect to put on for a night out! It is so creamy and moisturising, and has such a lovely summery smell it it. Find it here!
